Block A – Common Occupational Skills

Trends

There is an increase in the use of portable battery-powered tools. Electronic testing equipment is evolving to deliver more accurate and more detailed information. Tools are becoming more ergonomic and user-friendly. There is an increase in the regulations governing personal protective equipment (PPE) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG). The use of computers is increasing for information sharing such as billing, training and dispatching. There is an increase in the use of telecommunication equipment such as cell phones and electronic messaging devices. Awareness of working in confined spaces and related training is increasingly recommended.
